mirror

The mirror was prototyped in 2001 as part of a brief put out by the graphics firm Tomato. It is made of a square of observation glass which looks and reacts like a mirror. Onto the back of this a cylindrical drum is mounted, this is made from Mild steel which is powder-coated white. Around this is a circular fluorescent tube is fixed. The bulb is switched on using a small rod hanging under the light. Once illuminated the glass becomes transparent bathing the user in light whilst the drum prevents light getting to the centre of the mirror and so remains reflective.
